Do you take music seriously?

Many Christians do not. In fact, most are not only unaware of the inherent power of music, but they are also uninstructed concerning the elementary principles of music (i.e., melody, harmony, rhythm, structure, form, texture, etc.) and how these should interrelate.

If more Christians did take music seriously, they would understand these things, acknowledge God’s original intent for music, be aware of the musical wiles of the devil, evaluate the music they enjoy more carefully, escape the pollutions the world, enjoy music more fully, and edify themselves and one another more faithfully.

God calls you to take music seriously:

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord…” and “Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord… (Eph. 5:19 and Col. 3:16)
