A truly biblical Christian faith is the most important of all of God’s gifts to a human being (Eph. 2:8-9), far surpassing sight, hearing, etc.,because such a faith unites us with Christ, the eternal Son of God, who is the only Savior for sinners.

The quality of our faith as consisting of a knowledge and agreement with the teachings of the Bible, and as a heart-centered trust in Christ as Savior must then be taken absolutely seriously, for no other faith, no matter how sincerely held, is saving faith.

The content of teachings held is most serious. God discriminates on the basis of creed. “If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor bid him Godspeed” (2John 1:10).

Furthermore, true faith is always working faith. “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working by love” (Gal. 5:6).

The question of the quality of faith held by an individual, taught by a church or other organization, or presented as a reason for any action is then the most serious issue we can raise about that individual, church or action, and it must be raised.
