It is time for Christians to get serious!

Becoming a Christian is exceedingly simple. It is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone (John 14:6; Ephesians 2:8-9). Living the Christian life, however, is exceedingly difficult.

Jesus described the Christian life as taking up your cross (Matthew 16:24), and plowing a field without looking back (Luke 9:62). Jesus is essentially telling us that we need to be serious about our faith. He is calling us to be intentionally serious about following Him.

The perfectly sufficient sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross and the resulting mercy and grace God offers due to the cross demand our utmost commitment. We are to be seriously serious about our relationship with Jesus Christ.

In our efforts to follow Jesus Christ, we will face resistance from own flesh, from the world around us, and from Satan and his demons (1 Peter 5:8; 1 John 2:16). Overcoming these obstacles can only be accomplished with the power of God and guidance of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:37; 1 John 4:4).

God is always ready, willing, and able to give us the spiritual victory. But, at the same time, when we are unserious about our faith, God allows us to be defeated and to experience the pains of spiritual defeat. But, we are without excuse (1 Corinthians 10:13).

If we are defeated, it is due to us not being serious our relationship with God and understanding/application of His Word. God deserves and demands our all, and the appropriate response is for us to give Him our all (Romans 12:1-2). Seriously!
